We are looking to expand our team and are seeking a trainee surveyor to join us. We love what we do and want someone to share that enjoyment. We are looking for someone with great communication skills, who can quickly build relationships and trust, is well organised and most importantly is hungry to learn – full training will be provided.

The trainee surveyor will be provided with full training on the job, therefore, experience is not essential and personal attributes are more important in the selection process. Applicants should be interested in the commercial property sector and seek to progress in this field.

Summary Statement

The trainee surveyor will undertake work within both the agency department and the management department.  Work within the agency department will include tasks such as listing properties, taking responsibility for marketing initiatives and undertaking viewings. Within the management department they will be required to read leases, respond to tenant queries, organise maintenance work and manage suppliers (all under supervision). They will liaise with businesses looking for new properties, clients, suppliers and members of the public alike. The role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop skills across different sectors of the commercial property industry and gain real hands-on experience.

Full training will be provided on the job. Therefore, personal characteristics of enthusiasm, hunger, reliability, determination, conscientious and willingness to learn are more important than technical skills, qualifications and experience.

Main Responsibilities

  • To carry out normal duties of the department they are currently operating in, under the direct supervision of a responsible member of that department.
  • To attend training course(s) at a training provider of M4PC’s choice, to attain vocational qualifications commensurate with the company’s business.
  • Assist the agency team in ensuring that all property enquiries are logged and responded to efficiently.
  • Undertake property inspections, prepare marketing details and implement full marketing campaigns to attract potential occupiers for commercial buildings.
  • Undertake viewings of properties with potentially interested parties.
  • Utilise Microsoft office programmes, the company property management system and Xero accounts.
  • Dealing with property management issues across the managed portfolio.
  • Prepare invoices, chase payment and record incoming payments for the properties under management.
  • Pay invoices for suppliers within the property management portfolio utilising internet banking. Ensure payments are recorded.
  • Carry out basic administration tasks as required in each department.
  • Answering the phone and greeting guests.
  • Accepting and booking in viewings, meetings, inspections and appointments.

The task objectives are:

  • To learn all aspects of M4PC’s business to the highest possible level of achievement.
  • To liaise in a respectful and co-operative manner with all employees at M4PC, applicants, clients, suppliers and members of the public.
  • To complete all agreed training on time and to the best of your ability.
  • To undertake any reasonable task requested of them from any responsible person within the M4PC organisation.

Job Location

The role is available on a hybrid basis, working partly from home and partly from company premises.
